Sustainability

Sustainability

Made well, made by hand, and made to be kept - not replaced.

Our quiet commitment

The most sustainable bag is the one you keep

We don't believe sustainability is a label to add at the end. It's in the material we choose, the way each bag is made, and the years it's designed to be carried. Here is what that means.

OEKO-TEX® certified cotton

The material

OEKO-TEX® certified cotton

Every SNORR tote is crocheted from recycled cotton rope yarn - a natural fibre chosen for how it feels, how it wears, and how long it lasts. Cotton breathes, ages gracefully, and can be carried again and again, season after season - a considered alternative to the plastics and synthetics that fill most bags today.

The yarn is independently certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100; the full paperwork - certificate number, institute, and how to verify it yourself - is published just below.

The paperwork

Certified, not just claimed

Every SNORR tote is crocheted from recycled cotton rope yarn certified to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 - independently tested for harmful substances against the standard's limit values, and certified to Product Class I, the strictest class there is. The certificate is issued to the yarn's manufacturer; that is how OEKO-TEX works. The details here let you check the claim at the source, rather than take our word for it.

OEKO-TEX® certifies the material, not the finished bag: the certificate covers the yarn we crochet with, and is issued to its manufacturer. Every SNORR tote is made from that certified yarn.

Made by hand, not by machine

Slow by design

Made by hand, not by machine

A handmade bag is a different kind of object. Where mass production turns out thousands of identical pieces - made fast, and destined to wear out and be thrown away - a SNORR tote is crocheted one at a time, to last.

Nothing is rushed and nothing is wasted. The hours held in each bag are exactly what make it worth keeping. And a bag that is kept and loved for years is the most sustainable bag of all.

The longest life is the greenest

Built to last

The longest life is the greenest

The most sustainable thing we can make is something you will never need to replace. Our totes are built to be carried every day and loved for years - mended rather than discarded, passed on rather than thrown away.

Made once. Made right. Made to stay.

Carried gently. Kept for years.
